FOG to Lead Southeast Regional Center for Organic Transition for USDA’s Transition to Organic Partnership Program: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced it is establishing a 5-year cooperative agreement in six regions across the United States for the $300 million Organic Transition Initiative, Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). The TOPP network regions include: the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Plains, Northwest, and West/Southwest. Florida Organic Growers (FOG) was chosen to lead the Southeast region and will work together with regional partners to establish and administer programs that help transitioning and recently transitioned producers.  Read more…

Florida Organic Growers Partners with Department of Health to Accept SNAP at Farmers Market in Southeast Gainesville:  In partnership with the Alachua County Department of Health and Florida’s Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program, Florida Organic Growers (FOG) will offer Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients a way to spend their benefits on fresh, locally-grown produce at the newly re-opened Alachua County Department of Health Farmers Market.

Wells Fargo to Present Check to Expand Local Food Security Project at Fall Harvest Festival On Saturday November 18th, at the Alachua County Farmer’s Market Fall Harvest Festival, Wells Fargo Business Banking Relationship Manager Scott Hansis will present a $5,000 check to Florida Certified Organic Growers and Consumers’ (FOG) to support and expand the organization’s Local Food Security Project. Read more …

Florida Farm Stands Now Eligible to Apply to Fresh Access Bucks Program:  Farm stands across Florida are now eligible to apply to Fresh Access Bucks (FAB), a statewide program now operating in 18 counties that was created to increases access to healthy, local, and fresh produce for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients.

Ferrell’s Market is now participating in Fresh Access Bucks:  Ferrell’s Market in Okeechobee County is now participating in Fresh Access Bucks, a program that increases access to healthy, local, fresh produce for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients.
