Organic Farming Workshops
Organic Farming Workshops
Florida Organic Growers’ (FOG) has a long tradition of promoting and organizing successful organic farming workshops throughout Florida. We partner with organic farmer experts, University of Florida-IFAS, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) and many other research and education institutions to bring these practical on-farm workshops to life. The goal behind these workshops is to promote sustainable and organic farming methods such as farm planning, sustainable soil management, sustainable pest, disease, and weed management, food safety, marketing, USDA National Organic Program (NOP) regulations, and much more.
These workshop create a critical meeting place for the sharing and exchange of ideas among farmers and researchers, promoting a sense of collaboration and partnership among them, and to present the most up to date research information. Practices highlighted in workshops are relevant to all farming operations, with the potential to help reduce input costs while improving soil characteristics and whole-farm ecological function. Workshop participants benefit from host farmers’ experiences and insights, as well as knowledge and experience from invited speakers and FOG staff.
