Harvest Hoedown

The Harvest Hoedown is our annual dinin’ dancin’ hootenanny!

Our 2011 event took place at the beautiful Prairie Creek Lodge- a dramatic 5,000 square-foot former hunting lodge seven miles from downtown Gainesville on the Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. Old-time music provided by the Flying Turtles String Band offered a high-energy backdrop to contra dancing led by caller Andy Kane. Dinner was prepared by Chef Mark Newman of Leonardo’s 706 and offered a taste of Florida’s best from a variety of local and organic producers. Beer, organic wine, and non-alcoholic drinks were also available to enjoy. A variety of exciting items were auctioned, such as a stay at St. Augustine’s Casa Monica Hotel, holistic healing services, art, and much more.

Our 2012 event is in the works and sure to be bigger and better! Stay tuned for details to come.
