Gainesville Initiative for Tasty Gardens (GIFT Gardens) builds raised-bed vegetable gardens and edible landscaping to increase food production in Alachua County, to increase self-sufficiency of community residents, and to beautify our area with edible landscaping.
Want a garden to grow healthy, organic food in your front or back yard all year long? The purchase of a 1-4-1 GIFT Garden provides a FREE garden to a low-income Alachua County resident.
GIFT Gardens is seeking Alachua County residents and organizations that serve low-income Alachua County residents to receive up to 10 free raised-bed vegetable gardens, helping them become more self-sufficient and increasing their ability to provide for their food needs, and those of other at-risk community members.
The Downtown Farmers Garden (DFG) at the Alachua County Administration Building in Gainesville was unveiled in July 2010 and the City of Gainesville's City Hall Garden was established in May 2011. Volunteer opportunities are ample!
