Surfside Sunset Farmers Market is now participating in Fresh Access Bucks: August 14, 2017-Surfside Sunset Farmers Market is now participating in Fresh Access Bucks, a program that increases access to healthy, local, and fresh produce for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients.  A program of Florida Certified Organic Growers and Consumers, Inc. New Food Justice Study Group Launched in Gainesville: August 9, 2017-Florida Certified Organic Growers and Consumers, Inc. (FOG) is launching a new Food Justice Study Group for local residents in Gainesville and its surrounding communities. Every other month, we will be discussing a book or documentary that has been selected to generate a conversation about how our contemporary food system can help us better understand the complex issues of race, class, gender, both our collective and individual histories, and how we might envision and achieve a more sustainable, socially-just society. Registration Open for the Florida Organic Food & Farming Summit: August 3, 2017- “Registration continues for Florida Certified Organic Growers and Consumers’ statewide Organic Food & Farming Summit taking place September 17-19 in Gainesville. The Summit kicks off on Sunday, September 17 with organic food and farm tours and on-farm workshops in and around Gainesville. Following the farm tours, FOG will be hosting a mixer at the opening of the trade show from 6 to 8 pm at the Hilton UF Conference Center. The mixer is free and open to the public. The trade show features 40 exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies, products, and services in organic production.” Read more …
